Father Francis Theodore "Ted" Pfeifer, O.M.I., an Oblate Missionary Priest from Texas, served the indigenous people of southern Mexico for 44 years, during a period of increasing violence due to the influx of Mexican drug trafficers. In this remote region where Father Ted often had to travel on horseback through mountainous terrain to reach inhabitants
living in shanty's with dirt floors, the desire to bring Christ to these poor people was his mission in life. Though the drug gangs tried to intimidate and silence him and at least once tried to murder him, Father Ted did not leave his beloved congregation in the Mexican State of Oaxaca until health issues forced him to retire. He currently resides in San Antonio at the Oblate Madonna Residence.
Father Ted has told his courageous and frightening story to many listeners and eventually wrote a book about his life and experiences as a Missionary in Mexico entitled, "When The Wolves Came".
His book is in it's second printing.
A documentary film about Father Ted and his experiences in Oaxaca is in the works. Father Ted and his production crew (primarily family and Oblate supporters) are seeking your financial support for this worthy endeavor. Please visit the donations page for information.
